सुखं दुःखं भयं क्षेमं कर्मणैवाभिपद्यते॥
It is by the Law of Karma that a living being takes birth, and it is by Karma alone, that a living being meets his destruction. His happiness, sorrow, fear, and sense of security arise as the effects of Karma. (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, 10.24.13)

एष वै परमो योगो मनसः संग्रहः स्मृतः ।
हृदयज्ञत्वमन्विच्छन् दम्यस्येवार्वतो मुहुः॥
An expert horseman, who wants to tame his stubborn horse, does so by allowing the horse have its way for a moment, and then, by gradually pulling the reigns, places the horse on the desired path. Similarly, the Supreme Yoga process is by which one observes the desires of the mind and gradually brings them under control. (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, 11.20.21)
