इन्द्रियाणि जयन्त्याशु निराहारा मनीषिणः।
वर्जयित्वा तु रसनं तन्निरन्नस्य वर्धते॥
If one artificially tries to give up the sense gratification, especially that of the tongue, the attempt will be a failure, and in fact one's desire for sense gratification will increase as a result of artificial deprivation. (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, 11.8.20)
